Sundance Retired in Lexington, Kentucky
On Saturday, November 3, 2007, Sundance, a trick riding horse in the Riata Ramuda, was retired in Lexington, Kentucky at Curtiswood Farms for the "That's Entertainment" exhibit. Pictured is Brandi Phillips performing the Full Fender on Sundance. The exhibit features horses who have been in the entertainment business or who have been owned by entertainers. The exhibit is educational and open to the public during the year.

That's Entertainment was created by Genie Akin as a complement to highlight different breeds other than famous thoroughbreds that live at nearby farms such as Keenland, Darby, Camulot and of course the Kentucky Horse Park. It's an exhibit that is to be an added attraction of the World Equestrian Games in 2010.

Sundance is an American paint horse that is a world renowned trick riding horse. He was previously owned by world class t trick rider, Angelo Iodice. In 2002, I received a phone call from Angelo who was retiring from trick riding and decided to donate Sundance to the Riata Ranch Cowboy Girls. We had never met or worked with Angelo, a point that speaks volumes of Riata's legacy and reputation. To this day we have not met, yet we have a great respect for each other. Between his companion, Angelo and Riata Ranch, Sundance has been on numerous television programs and has been all over the country performing at shows such as Equine Affaire, Breyer Fest, The California Rodeo Salinas, the Dixie Stampede and Madison Square Garden, Tournament of Roses Parade, Dressage in the Wine Country with former NFL Quarterback, Joe Montana and World Champion Cowboy, Ty Murry.

The years before his retirement, Sundance took on a new role as a teacher for the 10 and under students of the Riata Ranch. He never lost his dignity or honesty but became an important teaching tool for young Riata students. Sundance is best known for his honesty, courage and good heart.

Sundance is respected by all who knew him as the ultimate trick riding horse. Angelo Idodice and Sundance were the ultimate partners and they became superstars. At Riata, the legend of Sundance the trick riding horse continued as he carried the Riata brand around the country with dignity and class. Sundance deserves the respect and recognition that he is receiving today. It is well deserved and Jennifer and the Riata Ranch Cowboy Girls wish him the best and thank Curtiswood Farms for accepting him as an important equine partner in the world of show business.

Sundance, our hats are off to you. Have a wonderful retirement!
